The architect for the house is thought to be D.S. Hopkins of Michigan (1866-1905). Above, a scan of his sketch from Houses & Cottages Book No. 5. A Collection of House and Cottage Designs. Gratitude to Ms. Port, his great, great granddaughter for sharing this image!
Innisfree is a bed and breakfast near the heart of South Bend, Indiana. Built in 1892 in Queen Anne style by the Fredrickson family, it is on the local and national historic registry. In the 1980s, the house was moved to its current location and became a family counseling center. In 2004, the home was transformed into a bed and breakfast by Cindy Werner who ran it lovingly for 12 years. In August 2016, Cindy handed the reins over to the new innkeepers, Mahan and Stephanie Mirza, whose travels nationally and internationally are the source of countless stories. We hope you will visit Innisfree, whether for a night’s stay, or a cup of tea! We are your South Bend bed & breakfast!
